STORY: The fact that the church in the background is being renovated does not detract from the simple beauty of the houseboats alongside the canal. If you’re Dutch (and old enough), you might just remember the many orange-clad fans jumping up and down them back in 1988 when we won the European championship. I was barely 10 then, but it’s one of my most vivid memories from childhood and something I’m always reminded of when walking or cycling here.
